Dead motor!!

I’m not usually one to give up, but I’ve had it with the small Kubota! I have over $300.00 into it and I’m walking away for now, it just will not fire. I know, I know, “Fuel, Air, compression” It must be on the compression end and I’m not going to put any more time or money or time into it, its going in a box!

I bought a charcoal smoker yesterday and converting it to a food dryer. I’ll take some pix of it once it is installed. Sam and I are both excited about drying food. We are also going to start canning at some point in the near future.

You may have noticed the peoplestring logo above. My friend tells me he is making money with it. It’s like a community like facebook but also a Internet portal where you can check your email and surf the web through it. They say you get paid for checking your existing email (gmail, hotmail, whatever) and get paid for it. I’ve heard a few good thing about it but don’t know, you may want to check it out. My buddy suggested it to a few people and runs all his surfing through it. He sez he just made $400 with it, kind of cool. I’m going to try it for a few months and if it turns out to be a dud, I’ll take the logo down.

I’m psyched to get going. I want to get to the Chesapeake and get “Splendid” fair and painted.

Cheers everyone.

  3. years ago i bought a hurrican boat yamar 50hp. would not start, crud in the rings not enough comprestion mechanics said if we could get her running rings would onsnag , but she would not start. a fellow at the rat island yaught club at gibsons dry dock st. johns river polaka florida , used a washing mashine motorand a belt plugged it in and with in 5 minutes the motor created enough heat to cause compression to start . the motor has run fine evermore. ian on stormy wheather

  4. manumit,

Thanks for the info but it is already in a box. Sounds like a good idea however. Cool not to burn out the starter.

It really should have started tho. I think one cylinder motors are a bit more finicky as there are no other cylinders to compensate.

I’m hoping to get it going at some point and hook it up to an alternator.

Thanks for your inspiration. I dream to sail the world in the near future and I will, despite friends’ inquiries regarding the fact I have never sailed. Seems like a minor problem to me. I will learn. Any advice for dreamers would be appreciated.

    Joe.
