I’ve ordered the LED replacement bulbs for the anchor and running lights; they really draw a lot less power.
Being at the dock is cool, we are just 2 houses down the street from Chuck’s house. Guin is running around and swimming every day and I have time to get stuff done. I’m going to get this diesel motor for the generator running but I don’t think it will generate power. Sooo much rust has fallen out of the generator part. I either need to get a new one or just hook it up to an alternator at some point. I’m going to be in the market for a little Honda generator as soon as I can find and afford one.
Today I have the nasty task of changing the oil and internal fuel filter in Splendid’s main engine (Perkins 4108), ARRRGGG!
I wanted to be out of here in the next couple days but Guin’s Dad is coming for a visit and I have plenty of projects to do. I’m hoping early next week.
Darrin spent his last few dollars on a used main with 3 reef points, he’s psyched!!!
All is good. I’m keeping a close eye on the national hurricane center page (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/). I’m hoping for good weather on our miles north.
Peace everyone.
Sail far and live slowly.

Hope everything works out for you all…….
Hi Alex,
I’ve been trying to keep up with all your progress, but I too have been very busy for the past few months trying to get our 45′ Bruce Roberts ketch, BLUE PEARL, ready for our trip up the coast to Charleston and consequently temporarily lost track of what you were doing and where you were. Just the other day I checked the site and find you’re right here in Boot Key harbor, which is where we are AND it seems we are doing the exact same things you are to our boat preparing for the trip….new bimini, wind generator, solar panels, water maker, etc. The list goes on… We still need the bimini and dodger redone but may run out of time and just wait to get it done in Charleston or there abouts. On Monday SALT Inc. is coming to revamp my engine driven Grunert holding plate system and install a Frigaboat 12v. compressor and plate in the frige box. If all goes well we hope to get out of here next week some time heading northward. What doesn’t get done here gets done further north. We just want to get out of here before the BIG ONE arrives. It’s kinda wierd that there has been no hurricane activity at all this year…YET. I gotta a feeling it’s the “lull before the storm”. That’s just why we’ve deciced to go north until Nov or Dec before heading on to the Carribean. If at all possible I’d sure like to link up for a short visit one day before you leave out, if you can spare a few minutes. There are a couple of things I’d like to ask you plus my wife, Hatsuko, and I would just like take the opportunity to meet you and say hello, since we are this close. We are at City Marina on mooring C-8 and have our pickup truck here for transportation. Please respond by email, BluePearl45@gmail.com, or cell phone at 404-787-4600. Later…….

Alex, You see the Frankenmaker that George- “Thatboatguy” -made on the Lats & Atts board? Get the diesel motor running and put on a generator and a watermaker then charge your batteries and make water at the same time. You almost have the expensive part up and running…
He also did a report on making a high output alternator out of a cheap delco.
John
John,
I dont think I can do it with a 4.5 hp motor. I think I’ll just be able to put a hi-output alternator (100 + Amps) on it which will be cool. I could only make it a 2kw generator (as before) and I cant do much with 2kw. With the 2.7 kw generator that I had I could barly weld and I ve no other need for 110.

concert last night was wonderful -two great artists—LANG LANG a classical pianist and Herbie Hancock—a jazz musician—they did a variety of music abd it was long and crowded so we never got home until one–today was dreadfully humid and then we had a wild rain storm–my flowers are happy–just finished my dinner and had chicken pam which pop loves of couse with a big salad. Got two books to read for book club so im heading down to the living room where it is quiet and cooler—much love to all —bubby

Well I got the paint stripe on the rub rail completed and the water line stripe done. What job it was with the bottom paint. Paint all over me got a migrain and sick to my stomach, but it is done. Will only have to touch the two spots where it sits on the trailer. Well ready to splash in in but the trailer axle rusted through and cracked I’m trying to put some kind of patch on it to get to the dock. I can’t find any one that can help me with a axle by giving them a make and model number. Some places want me to bring them the old axle so they can match it up. What a pain.
Hope you are doing well say Hi to everyone.
