Land and Sea

Tired

Wow am I tired, I’m soooo happy though. I’ve been flat broke and trying to get ready to sail to Panama. Most of all I want new chain, an 80lb Manson Supreme anchor, and a few grand stashed on the boat. I know I’ll get some of you guys to visit for a charter or two once Splendid is anchored in the San Blas and under way, at least I hope so.

My days are long and the work is hard but I’m really happy with this job. I’m working on the “Golden Princess” and building the new wine shop. In panama Sam and I can easily live on $15.00 a day, and that’s what I’m making an hour (more with over time). That’s what keeps me motivated, especially through a 17 hour day of grinding, welding, or jack hammering. The company I’m working for is really awesome! I couldn’t ask for a better crew or people to work for.

I just checked my email for the first time today. I had to go to the purser’s office to buy an internet card. The connection is horribly slow and expensive. I haven’t had any time to do anything but work & sleep.

I’ll write more as soon as I can. I’m planning on bringing my camera to work tomorrow to get a few pictures. It is an amazing site to see a 951 foot (18 level) ship in dry dock. I’m AMAZED how big this ship is, it’s a city. Although I must say I’d rather be at sea. It was nice to look off my balcony and see the sea passing by as the was coming up.

I cant wait to be home to Splendid and my girls. It’s really hard to be away.

Sorry if I don’t make much sense.

Peace, Love, and hard work!!

My Dad also said if you work hard for something you want, it will mean more to you when you get it, Well Alex you’ve been working hard for the last year, Soon, and real soon, I know you’ll not only see you dream, but feel the sweetness of all your hard work coming together to fulfeel your life long dream. You go man, dig deep into your soul, and work, work hard for soon Splendid will be say to you “Welcome Home, Welcome Home”. After a sold year of restoring SPlendid, you as closer than you’ve ever been to reaching andother childhood dream. I can’t wait to read your next log when feet are planted soundly on Splendid and your headed south to thw water unknown. Man what a dream, So remember you followers have read every log, watched every video and bought both DVD’s and still we’re hungry for Projectbluesphere to arise a sail, take us away from our everyday worlds and once again see watch is really over on the other side, DREAMS, yes that’s all we live for. So work hard and bring home the bacon for Splendid is waiting, but in the background stands us the follower saying welcome home, welcome home…Thank you for sharing your dreams and showing us that life is what you make of it.

  3. That’s pretty sweet, man. I do carpentry and I’ve also had to deal with 12 to 16 hour work days. (I’m puting money together for my first boat.) Whenever I get totally bummed out from work I just take a moment and remember that though most of the other guys will be here a year or two from now, I will be somewhere sunny, sandy and a lot more tropical. That little thought turns every day into a holiday and every night into 4th of July.

Hey Alex! It’s great that you’re able to jump ship and earn a little cash for the kitty. I am trying to make plans for my son and I to sail with you, soon. I have promised him we would go sailing, for two weeks, after he graduates in May 2010. I may have to bump that up to this summer.

I’ll e-mail you. I need to get some particular info.

    God bless!!!

  7. Hi Alex
It’s been a while, the last time we communicated was when you we’re on a delivery to somewhere in the north east. Great to rediscover the bluesphere site, and see you digging in to get to the next adventure. We’ve been busy with our boat dream, purchased a huge tri in Napa and drove cross country from Miami with the family over christmas… we got a lot done, but have to head back for the summer to dig in and raise some more funds. Check out the photos http://web.me.com/alvinski/Photo_Site/Escape.html

Keep the faith… I still know we’re going to bump into you somewhere out there.

    Allan

hello all.. sam here. alex has asked me to check in. internet connections are fleeting now that the ship has left dry dock and gone out to anchor, he has promised to check in when he can. i wish i could attach a pic to this comment- he sent me one recently all decked out in his work gear, yellow tshirt goggles mask hanging and even the ubiquitous knee pads striking a hello dolly pose, that would be sure to inspire some grins:) splendid is all well, guinna and i have just returned from a few days aboard. wow, it’s amazing how acustomed we’ve become to her movement and noises, how comforting they are, and how much they equal home. speaking of, alex returns on may 6th and we have a wonderful oppurtunity with my friend kerri( the canvas fashioner) and plans to begin shooting the next video as soon as some well deserved relaxation has been had. hope your days are fab! -sam
