Cruising again!

Cruising is in sight again. I left Tokyo last January, and I’m going to leave Fort Myers this January. I think one year is a good amount of time to put a boat together for cruising. I’m really hoping Sam and Guin come with me. Sam really wants to come and Guin is really loving the boat and being on the hook. She loves the dinghy rides all the time. Guin has been learning to swim with a really cool program. If you have kids (6 months – 6 years) and you’re planning on cruising or living on a boat I highly recommend infant swimming resources, you can check them out at http://www.infantswim.com. ISR is infant survival training and an important skill for cruising kids to have. Since we are on the topic of “Kids and cruising” you might also be interested in http://www.kidsaboard.com . They have good articles and information on the topic.

Darin has really been helping me out with getting Splendid ready. I’m giving him my extra dinghy (Carib), 10 hp Mercury, and extra SSB package. Darin is in the position I was in when I left, “big dreams and hollow pockets”. It’s a good way to be and I have enormous respect for people who cut the dock lines with nothing to loose. His boat is small with an old outboard hung from the stern but he has the most important piece of equipment of all, “a good attitude”! I’m also going to hook him up with a page on my new website so you all can check up on him as he travels.

I’m really excited about making my next cruising film!

Peace everyone.
