Bermuda Triangle

Remember all the stories about the Bermuda triangle? Maybe they are true. Today I lost the ships hydraulic system which controls the baby and back stays, as well as the boom-vang.  No real big deal as I can tighten everything with the turn buckles as necessary. The throttle /shift control also seems to have issues and will be impressed if it lasts the trip. Worse case scenario is I rig something with fishing line directly on the motor and bypass the cables entirely.

Not having an auto pilot is really taxing Buddy and I. We are both really tired and looking forward to making port in Bermuda on Saturday. We both need sleep beer, and some good food. I can’t tell you how happy I am to have Buddy (Elton) here. Even with him as a first mate this trip is harder then single handing a properly outfitted boat as I still need to dedicate 12 hours a day to the helm. I was really looking forward to playing with Joss and the rig, but I just don’t have the energy to play with the sails much. Every spare moment I want to nap.

We have under 10kts of wind and the motor is working away. I’m really glad I took on 10 extra cans of petrol.

Cheers from the Bermuda triangle.

I can’t wait to sit in a restaurant and not drive the boat!

Peace everyone.
