Well it’s been a mix of weather since leaving the BVI’s. The first day it was awesome, but the first night was littered with squally weather. We had 25 – 40 kt headwinds for about 8 hours, then a peaceful 8-10 from the south west. I was hoping that the autopilot would magically wake up but no luck. Wind has been scarce but I can usually pull 5 – 6.5 knots in 10 – 12 of wind.
I got the SSB working the other day with a jerry rigged ground but it died on me again today. I also have a slight knock from the shaft and checked the tranny to the prop and can’t figure it out. I jumped in the sea today to check the bottom but all looks well, there doesn’t seem to be any play in the cutlass bearing.
Being at the helm 12 hours a day is grueling. Buddy and I are trying to maintain 4 hour shifts, the night are the hardest. We may pull into
Spot is cool eah? We are sending a spot every 12 hours (7am and 7pm).
It’s good to be at sea. I’ll break 10,000 miles in 14 months : )
Sail far and live slowly.
