I hate superstitions, I think they’re silly. As many of you know one is not supposed to leave on a long sea journey on a Friday, personally I don’t usually know what day it is so I don’t pay attention to this silly mariners superstition. All this being said I’m not leaving on a Friday, and on the 13th. Either I’m superstitious or I just want to spend another day in this pristine anchorage. I spent the morning cooking chicken breasts, hard boiled eggs, and rice. I don’t like cooking at sea and like to be able to just grab something.
Joss’s autopilot isn’t working and it looks like Buddy and I will have to hand steer for the trip, not fun! I talked to the owner and he says “once Joss is balanced you can lock the wheel and go to sleep”. I’m really happy I put an Aries windvane on my boat. I think all boats should have one.
Anyway we are off in the morning on a 1600 mile passage. I’m getting a lot of emails about spot, seems like it’s a hit.
Cheers everyone.
Sail far and live slowly.
