Windvane!

One of my 2 major projects (Autopilot & Windvane) is nearly finished. The windvane was beeyatch to install!

Last year I sailed half way around the world. One of the things I learned is I want an Aries windvane steering my boat, here it is!

I had to remove Splendid’s name and hailing port as they were mounted on teak board on her stern. I also had to remove the swim ladder and SSB tuner as they all interfered with my install. I still need to buy blocks and line to run Gina’s (my windvane) lines back to the wheel. By the way Gina was my first dogs name : ) I really need to paint Splendid’s stern but I’m going to hold off till I have the time to paint the hull  and do it right. I’m just going to look a bit derelict for the moment.

I got an interesting call today. My friend has a boat in the BVI’s and wants it in Connecticut. I may fly down and do a quick delivery for some extra cash. I really would like to get a life raft before I bug out this time. When you’re on a sailboat thousands of miles away from shore you think about the luxury of a life raft!

Life is good.

Cheers everyone.

Live free, sail far!
