I left yesterday morning with a calm sky and 10 knots of wind. The day before I had a lovely sail through Tonga and picked an anchorage that was good to sail out of as well as being exceptionally beautiful. I spent the night anchored at my own island gazing at the stars listening to opera and Jazz, I dozed in the cockpit. I left with just a hint of morning sun. I’m not making the best time but the passage is pleasant enough. I must confess about something. I never checked in, or out of Tonga. There was a big political thing going on and the office was often closed. I suppose I could have tried harder but I didn’t, Pirate ;) The good thing is I didn’t get arrested, and I did fly the Q flag the whole time.

I’m approaching the Lau islands in the Southern Fijians. This area is littered with strong currents, volcanic activity, uncharted reefs. shoals, and most likely sea monsters, makes it interesting!!!

I tried using some thinner in my stove last night. I was pleasantly surprised until I woke up and found that there was a soot on everything and I tracked all over the boat and myself,(Black face) ARGGG!

What is it that I do, people often ask me. Am I still a filmmaker, a writer, professional sailor. All I know is that there is no one better then me at kicking back at 19 South, 175 West and listening to Johnny Cash in the sun. Am I at the top of my field. I was told today that projectbluesphere is getting over half a million hits a month, and about 129,000 page views. It makes me think I’m somebody, I just don’t know who. I’m not handsome, I cant dance, and my feet often smell. I don’t shower all that often, but I can do one thing…, I can sail the miles brother, I can sail the miles!!!

Anyway, all is well and I’m just trying to get into the mood to knock out these 1000 miles to New Cal.

I’m soon to be a shipless sailor, lets hope not for log!

Cheers.
