Marijuana

I went to town yesterday for bread and cheese. On the way I decided to stop into the police station to study a map on the wall of the island. I wanted to make sure I hitch hiked the right road to the airport today. As I was studying the map I smelled marijuana burning. I turned to look at the cops; they were busy checking in a cruiser. I thought maybe one was toke’n up in the back room. I peeked out the window and saw some young adults across the street passing a joint. They were kicking around a soccer ball with absolutely no concern of the police. It’s kind of laid back here.

I walked to the store, it was closed. The vegetable stand and post office were also closed. I was hungry and decided to stop at a snack shop for a sandwich. Not thinking I ordered a burger and beer. The burger was a scrawny little thing, and the meat kind of tasted like beef. I was surprised to get a $23.00 bill. In Panama City it would be no more then $2.00. The price for a cheese burger in paradise I suppose.

My diet is turning out to be pretty healthy. Baguettes and butter, cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables. I want to figure out how to make jam. Perhaps I should try the vegetarian thing?  I didn’t eat meat in the San Blas often and I felt fantastic. I took a small taste of my fermenting wine test this morning. It’s kind of good, tastes like juice that might give you a buzz?

Subscriptions seem to have leveled off at the $290 mark, and by no means am I complaining. Less money just means I need to be more creative.

I’m off to clean the cockpit, then a long hike up the mountain to the airport. I hope to get a ride for part of the way. I’m told coming back isn’t a problem as a few cars will surly be headed to town.

Cheers everyone.

Peace from my Polynesian Paradise.
