Ia Orana (Greetings)
I’m amazed!!!
It’s a rainy, rainy morning, but my Paypal account is shining!!! I feel like finding a grass skirt and doing the Hula on the deck this morning, I need to find a ukulele.
Just yesterday I receiver subscriptions of $120.00 a month, I am really touched. Once I reach my $500 a month goal I’m going to have my buddy’s daughter select a monthly subscriber at random and give away a week charter, hopefully to someone who really needs it.
I might just be able to pull this whole thing off. At the beginning of my trip I told myself “if I make it around the world with empty pockets, it will be worth every penny and every ounce of effort”. Bluesphere isn’t about making money, in fact, I don’t even like talking about it, well except today : ) So many people told me that I will never forge an income out of the internet. So many cruisers try various ways of making money online but I don’t know of any who are actually doing it.
I found more yellow liquid this morning. I think Alfred is potty training himself on my stove. I’d roll up a newspaper and swat him on the nose and send him outside, but I think it would be a “splat” situation. How do you reprimand a gecko?
I went to town yesterday. No joy on finding a glass container for winemaking. I did find some balloons and I’m trying a small wine making experiment in an empty bottle of rum. We’ll see what happens in a week.
I went back to the post office to check email. For some reason I can’t get into my gmail account. The keyboard here is worse (unusual) then the ones in
After buying some groceries I hitch Hiked up to the hotel on the road to the airport, about 5 clicks. Their internet access is not for the public, the manager also told me that it is “no faster then the post office but they are working on it”. I explained that I can’t check my email at the post office and I need to find a place to plug in my laptop. She told me to come back later this week after 13:00 and she would let me plug in for a while.
The view from the mountain was breathtaking. I was literally walking in the clouds looking down at a little white speck (Namaste). I sat on the side of the road and had a little bread and cheese. I also carry a camelback and fill it from my water maker. I don’t buy bottled water. I found a fruit farm walking down the mountain on my way back to Namaste. I bought the best grapefruit I’ve ever tasted. Sweeter then any orange, and the size of a cannon ball. I also bought some limes and avocados. The avocados are 3 times the size of the largest avocados I’ve ever seen.
This is such a funny place. People don’t have much money but everyone drives my dream car, a land rover jeep, I heard they were subsidized by the government. The stores are filled with pate, caviar, and a good selection of wine and cheese. Not to mention fantastic baguettes and croissants. So many Americans give the French a hard time and I must protest. My mother grew up in
I’ve been working on Namaste just about every day since I got here and there is still so much to do. A long crossing really takes its toll on the boat. Today is more cleaning and laundry. I’m also going to try and knock out the waterline on the starboard side. It’s not like a normal water line cleaning. The growth is half way up the hull due to deep healing for extended periods of time. I’ve never had such a hard time cleaning the hull.
I really want to thank everyone who subscribed yesterday, from the bottom of my heart. It means allot to me that you guys enjoy Project BlueSphere enough to help me on my way. Only about $390.00 a month to go.
Peace from my Polynesian paradise.
Alex
