There must have been a festival or gathering last night. I fell asleep to the sound of native drums echoing off of the steep cliffs, and the smell of fire and cooked pig. It rained most of the night and I’m kicking myself for not hooking up my water catcher, I’ll do that today. Namaste is listing to port from an abundance of fuel (tank on the port side), and a near empty tank of water on the starboard side. I opened my eyes this morning to the sound of the rain beating the decks and the sweet smell of earth and sea. I am soooo happy!
I don’t know if you remember, but when I was in Espirito Santo (Las Perlas) in
When I went to make my coffee this morning I noticed a little yellow liquid on the stainless surface of my stove top. “What’s that” I thought, “looks like pee”? A moment later I noticed Alfred crawling up the wall, “It is pee, hello Alfred; I thought you were dead, welcome to the Marquesas”!
I had a really nice breakfast of baguette, butter, and strawberry jam while listening to Pavarotti and watching Alfred walk on the ceiling. “It would be cool to walk on the ceiling, but not as cool as sailing around the world”.
The anchorage is getting a bit crowded and there are 30 more boats on the way from the Galapagos. I don’t know where they will fit.
During my search for internet today I’m going to visit the hardware store. I’m looking for a 3-5 gallon glass container for wine making. One of my friends told me that “Raisin jack” is easy to make. Another told me to check the internet for wine making supplies, and that I could buy juice for cabernet, merlot, and so on. It should only take 10 or so days to make a batch, and what an achievement, not to mention a great way to save money.
Speaking of achievements, it’s always been my vision that Project Bluesphere would provide me a small income. Although I get few donations and DVD sales, it is not really enough to survive. Chartering here will be difficult given the geographic distance from the states. We just put up an optional $4.95 a month subscription button. I know so many of my readers are daily visitors, and enjoyed crossing the Pacific with me. I’m hoping you feel it’s worth the .16 cents a day to support my efforts in sharing my dream. I’m not looking for a dollar from a million people, just $4.95 a month from one hundred. With an income of $500 a month I could easily continue on without having to worry about returning to the states to build up the cruising kitty. If you can’t afford it, don’t worry and please continue to enjoy the site. If you can I believe the link to the subscription/donation page is just above, or below, the log you are reading now.
Anyway…, time to clean up and head to shore for a shower before going to town.
Cheers everyone.
Peace, Love, and Gecko pee!
