Land and Sea

setteling in.

I went in search of internet today, I want to upload pictures.

I rowed into shore before 7am.

I took a shower outside watching the mist roll off of the steep cliffs. The sunlight streamed between the clouds warming my skin and the rugged green of my world burned its impression into my memory castle, I’ll never forget this place. I thought of my uncomfortable time at sea as I washed myself in the cool fresh water which pumped from a nearby stream. I decided that if the sensation of being at sea was equal to ripping my flesh from bone, it would be worth my time in paradise.

I hitch-hiked into town and got a ride on a garbage truck, it was surprisingly clean.

I was told there is only one internet terminal on the island, at the post office. When I got to the post office I found an internet terminal that you have to put a phone card into. No problem, I bought a phone card. After closer inspection I realized there is no USP port, ARRRGGGGGG!!!! And the connection is so slow it takes more then .60 seconds for Google to load…, pictures, “I don’t know”??? Someone told me to try the hotel on the road to the airport. There is a rumor they have a fast machine and connection. I will try tomorrow.

Three different people came up to me to shake my hand and use their only English “Hello, Welcome”! It’s nice when everybody doesn’t have their hand out.

I bought a few baguettes, some tomatoes and cheese, and started walking back to the boat. I put my thumb out and the first car stopped as usual, everyone gives you a ride here.

I took another shower before getting into my launch, it’s hot, and there is an abundance of fresh water. This is rainy season.  When I got to the boat I made a nice cheese and tomato sandwich with fresh rosemary and lettuce. I also had a glass of cold red wine, I know…, but its good cold! It was around 11:00.

After a quick 40 minute power nap I fixed the boom and cleaned the port side water line. Then I took another shower.

Someone asked me to post my schedule over the next few months. I don’t have a schedule, but if I did, it would be as follows. My friend Machiko is coming for a week on the 28th. After that I will spend a solid week working on the boat before another guest comes for a week visit. Remember the charter I secured in Panama, he is coming around the 11th. We will spend a few days here then well go and check out Ua Poa for a few more days. He will fly out of Ua Poa. After that I’m planning on visiting Nuka Hiva, then sailing a week or so (around 500 miles) to the Tuamotos. I’ll spend a while there and head to Tahiti for my Birthday (July 14th).

So who is coming to Tahiti for my birthday?

After Tahiti I want to see Bora Bora, then the cooks, Samoa, the Kingdom of Tonga, and then Fiji. After that I have no clue!

Someone turned down the speed on my world. I feel like a 45 on LP speed. Everything is passing in slow motion and there is a sweet smell in the air.

Namaste $20,000, refit $15,000, sailing to paradise…, Priceless!!!!

I periodically find myself laughing. LG…, Life’s Good!!

Cheers from Hive Oa

Peace, Love, and a glass of wine at 11:00.
