Today was check in day.
I went to the police station to get my entry stamp and ships papers worked out (no charge). Aki was in tow and got his boat dealt with as well.
After that we went shopping to get some fresh food.
IT IS SOOOO BLOODY EXPENSIVE HERE!!!! A bottle of beer is $5.00, $8.00 in a restaurant, American soda is equally as expensive. Some items are reasonable. I bought 2 baguettes for around 80 cents, and a small can of pate for $3.65. By the way I haven’t had a baguette, or bread this good for about 5 years. I’m going to have to figure out how to survive here. Spear fishing is out of the question as I have learned the reef fish have cigueterra (poison) and I don’t want to risk it. Hunting local pigs might be an option. Otherwise its beans, rice, bread & butter, and lots of wonderful fruit, doesn’t sound so bad.
I’m really tired from walking and cleaning today. I was going to skip doing a log but wanted to check in. I’ll write more tomorrow.
Cheers everyone.
