1500 miles 2 go

Sorry for the delay in logs I’m having comm. Problems.

I caught 2 dorado yesterday, one was a bull, and the biggest I’ve ever caught. I took 8 fat fillets from him which are now on salt. Good thing too because I don’t have much of an appetite, they will last.

There is more sun today, however last night the wind freshened to 22kts and the swell seems to have changed a bit of direction. The wind weakened over night and is back down to 17. With the new swell direction (more on the stern) I have a large port to starboard roll as I’m making my 5 kts. It makes it quite difficult to do anything with the exception of lay in my bunk with my eyes shut.

I’m not ashamed to admit I’m tired. Not including my 2 days in the Galapagos I’ve been at sea for more then 3 weeks. I am very much looking forward to putting this passage behind me. It has not been the coconut milk run I’ve read about probably because of the La Nina aspect. And according to my weather sources I spent more then a week in a secondary ITCZ (My UDC) which really wore me out. I’m hoping these last few weeks shape up and offer a better ride. I know it is worth it and I’m not complaining I’m just bruised, battered, and burned. Wait till you see the pictures of my hands I took in the UDC, looks like I should be in the hospital. A crew member would make all the difference in the world but I want to do this on my own. My burn did not blister over night it’s just red and soar. I do have a burn kit on board with gauze somewhere but I don’t think I’ll need to try and dig it out. There is a tropical cyclone developing I the Tahiti area, however I’ve been told it is nothing for me to worry about.

My mental goal is the 1000 mile mark. From there I’m hoping to become more excited as the triple digits roll back.

I’m really proud of my buddy Rick (my star pupil) who I met on a charter this past year. He got his boat and is on his way. Check out www.sailblogs.com/member/bccjunessa/ nice boat, you can’t go wrong with a Bristol Channel Cutter.

Seize the day!

Cheers everyone.

Alex
