Canal update

Sorry for the late update.

I’m installing a Tropikool refrigeration system which is utterly fantastic! It’s only drawing about 20-25 amp hours a day, it’s quiet, and incredibly efficient, just what I want. Installation was a snap to boot. If you’re looking for a new system for your boat this is it, it is the most efficient system on the market, if you have any questions, ask away.

The hard part was I decided to add an inch of foam to my cold box. I cut the foam and glued it to the walls of the box, pretty easy right? Well I don’t know if you have ever tried working with Formica, but what a difficult material to work with! When you cut it, it shatters. One needs a really good flat and stable surface to work with it, and needless to say I don’t have a large flat surface to work with. It was also blowing 30 knots in a very rollie anchorage, not a good combo for working with formica.

My ice box looks like hell, but it stays really cold, good enough for now.

Speaking of hell, I met the Devil. His initials are DHL. What a horrible company, with horrible service. I thought they were bad enough in the states, but here forget about it. I’m sticking with Federal Express; never again will I use DHL!!!!!

My temporary canal transit date is set for the 9 th, but I’m hoping for the 6 th.

My cousin Steve is coming to visit me for a few weeks and transit the canal with me.

Peace, Love, and the Panama Canal BABY!!!!
