Colon really bites!

There is a garbage burning plant a quarter mile away and Namaste is covered in black soot, we are just down wind.

I got the tires on Namaste today and I’m thinking of adding two more. I also got an official Panama Canal Ships registration number and card that is posted at the radio station. The next time Namaste transits the canal she will not have to be measured, The process of transiting will be much simpler.

It’s going to be quite the ordeal transiting the canal. I need 4 line handlers, myself, and a pilot. That’s six people on my little boat, five of which have to spend the night. Obviously I have to feed and entertain everyone as well.

The pilot will come to Namaste around 1600 hrs on the ninth (tentatively), and we will up-lock three locks. After we pass the third lock we will hook up to a mooring ball in the lake and spend the night in fresh water. I hear there are a lot of mosquitoes. About eight the next morning the pilot will come out to Namaste and we will spend the day motoring to the next 3 locks and down-lock to the Pacific, YEEEHAAAA!

I will spend a few days in Panama City, and go to the Perlas Islands with my cousin Steve.

My charter in the Perlas canceled so I have a few weeks for a charter after the 18th (Feb) if anyone is interested. If I don’t get a charter soon I will provision and set sail for the Galapagos as soon as possible.

projectbluesphere.com will be launching a chart viewer in a few weeks. You will be able to look at local charts and Namaste’s location at all times. The chart viewer utilizes charts, pictures, text, and video, kind of cool. I will try to do daily text updates on my sail across the pacific.

Finances are slim and at the current rate I’ll be leaving panama with no outboard and around a thousand dollars. DVD sales account for a few hundred a month but that doesn’t cover the expenses of running the website, video tape, maintenance, fuel, food, and so on. I have posted a donation button at the bottom of the Ships Log page and will need to rely on my subscribers to help keep projectbluesphere.com alive. It has always been my vision to keep projectbluesphere.com a free site so all who dream of sailing around the world can experience part of it.

That’s it for today.

Peace, Love and…, I listened to the news yesterday, how about a little more peace!
