You know when I started this trip I was your average coastal (weekend) sailor. I always had a sea-tow card in my back pocket along with good insurance. I didn’t really know how to anchor (even after 10 years), and I wasn’t the shining Super Sailor you see before you today, “Ahhhh…, maybe NOT”.
I was in Isla Linton and a line of squalls was approaching from the South West. I had just finished stocking the boat with food, and wanted to move to Isla Grande before night fall. Navigating the reef out of Linton is a…, well you know. I want to head for San Blas at around 4am and I’d rather leave from Isla Grande.
I always seem to make mistakes when I’m over confident. I didn’t feel the need to power up the sailing electronics, or the GPS just to move a few miles.
Well guess who ran aground, yup…, you got it…, me. I was sitting in 2 feet of water. I wanted to get out before the squalls hit but it didn’t really work that way. Luckily a boat came by and pulled me off for no charge, I got pretty wet though. You know what they say, “If you never run aground, you never go anywhere”, I still don’t like it, thank God it wasn’t a reef.
Hey…, The new preview of the DVD was posted on the web site this weekend. If you watch it, send me an email and tell me what you think. The Windows Media movies look better then the quick time ones.
That’s about it, I’m off before the sun.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Peace Love & Coconuts.
