Land and Sea

Back in the Blas

Well I just dropped the hook in Por Vaneer.

The Kuna women rushed Namaste upon my arrival. I gave some candy to the children, and adults, and bought a new sarong (a manly man skirt).

I got out of Isla Grande at about 5am, and it’s 5pm now, so just under 12 hours. I haven’t had to trim my sails as much as I did today sine I use to race many years ago. Talk about variable winds, they clocked around me 4 times. I’d be on a broad reach then a beam reach, then I’d be running. Funnily enough I never seemed to be directly into the wind and was able to sail all day. I went through 3 squalls, man they come on fast. I was on a nice reach (10kts), then BAM, it’s blowing 30 from behind, that’ll wake you up!

I also caught a nice mackerel for lunch. A squall hit just as I started frying it up. I was able to run up on deck, reef the main and trim everything, without even burning my lunch : )

My guest comes day after tomorrow for a week so I might be kind of out of touch. I’m going to ask him to write a log though so you get someone else’s perspective.

Peace, Love & Coconuts.
