Cartagena

Today’s a cleaning day. I took out all of the cushions and dried them in the sun on deck, did laundry, and went into town to buy a couple of small fans. The old streets and wrinkled smiling faces are as warm as the asphalt under my feet, there is such a good feeling here. I can’t believe more people don’t visit, but I think it’s a good thing, it might spoil it. Most of the boats here have air conditioning, but fans will have to do. It gets very hot during the midday, and will continue to get hotter over the next few months. It rains, thunders, and lightenings, every day. It’s especially hot in Namaste when all of the hatches are closed due to rain. I bought a pound of really wonderful espresso for just over a buck today (2,800 pesos), the bread, cheese and meat only cost a few more and will keep me for 3-4 days. Things are very inexpensive here compared to the islands. The fruit & produce is excellent, they have papayas the size of watermelons and they are quite good.
