Splendid is for sale.

AlexDorsey-2But only for the next couple days. I have a very narrow opportunity to get into a slightly bigger and heavier boat in the next few days.

Carla and I have been dreaming of Greenland, Alaska, and Patagonia. The truth is I’ve been thinking of steel, and heavier boats and we have a crazy possibility but have to strike at it now.photo-(9)

I may be willing to sell Splendid in the 30-40k range with her mooring (no slip fees) ASAP here in Panama.

If anyone is interested please contact me at alexdorsey@gmail.

photo-(8)Also if someone is willing to give me a loan based on Splendid’s paper, I’d be up for that too. If I had time to sell her down here I could get 60-70k with the mooring.

peace.

  1. Geez – that post heading scared the hell out of me. I see these as bookmarks – and with all the health posts, the heading gave me chills.

I am glad you are OK, ambitious, and only suffering from an acute bout of 2foot-itis.

Any questions about steelies, feel free to send them along – I currently sail a Petit Prince 12.5m steel, and previously did a complete restore on a 37 foot corten steel yawl.

If the boat comes with its own genset/welder you can be pretty well and truly self sufficient – no more messing about with resins. On the other side, you will always need a needle scaler/grinder and a pot of epoxy on the go.

    Good luck!

  2. Okay guys,

I couldn’t pull it off but there is still time if someone out there wants an opportunity to get into a westsail 42 for super cheap (15k) now.

Go to westsail42.wordpress.com to see the pictures, and go to eBay and type in westsail to find the auction.

    Peace

  3. I have to agree with Devon. My heart stopped for just a moment. Dam you could have brought it on us a little less abrupt. But then again you got our attention.
All the best in your search

  4. Moving aboard our Cal 3-30 this week, the fun begins.. will be wintering over in Puget sound, this new Cal(1974) is in great shape and is Puget sound ready with a tiny wood stove, thanks for the inspiration..

    Arch

    S/V Osprey

  5. Tom Colvin’s Gazelle and Saugeen Witch are nice steel designs. A Gazelle recently went for $5,000 on eBay..below the scrap cost of the steel and lead.

  6. We managed to get into the westsail 42 (Rocinante), I am flying to new you’re to get her on Tuesday.
