Sam, Guin, and I just returned home last night. I’ve barely been here for 2 months and it is so nice to hang my hat back on Splendid. We only have a few weeks to get our ship together and head for the Bahamas and beyond. The last delivery turned out to be much longer and complicated than I had expected. It’s good to be home!
Sam already has the boat torn apart and is organizing and getting ready for our trip. I have a few critical things to do but feel good about Splendid. I have to send off a SSB and computer off for repair today. I killed my laptop on this trip along with my GPS, WIFI adapter, and 2 pairs of sun glasses. Man did we have some windy weather towards the end of the trip!
I’ve got a million things to do today, BZZZZZZ, I love coffee :)
Cheers.

Welcome home!!! I made it back with no further problems this time. Thanks again for all your hard work on this delivery!
My bag weighed an extra 5 pounds on the trip home today by the way…I found your new dive weight you forgot in the rental car!!! I’ll ship it out hopefully with the compressor.
Hi to Sam and Gwen too. Did she get the Lego city built yet?
Marty,
Ahhh, the dive weight, that’s right, Sam and Guin were playing with it in the back seat. This will show “from Sam” because I’m logged into her account but it is me (Alex). It was a long delivery but a good one. I’m happy to have made your friendship, a few bucks, and being paid for sailing. Splendid is alive like we never left. The sounds of a kids movie ring from Guins room, Jack Johnson on the ipod, and the smell of food in the galley. The place is a wreck. Sam is on a “throwing out/cleaning” binge and I have the aft cabin torn apart installing and testing the new (1980’s) Sea SSB and tuner I bought in Oriental.
I’m about to take a saw to the aft cabin and put a queen bed in for us. Sam and I have lived on a single bunk for way too long. I’m off mattress hunting tomorrow.
Marty, thanks again for everything, really. You were a great guy yo deliver a boat for :)

Please ask Sam to check her email.
thanks

Alex,
I dont know what your budget is or your height restrictions but we got a great deal through Costco on a temperpidic type matress that was a breez to cut-to-fit on Isabella. Very comfy but almost 12″ high. Now get back out there so I can keep living vicariously through you guys!
Fair Winds,
Mike
Alex,
When you’re looking at the mattresses for Splendid, keep in mind the “heat factor”. Tempurpedic are MARVELOUS for comfort — however, they retain body heat and are miserable in the tropics. Not the mention the dampness issues and possibility of mold
There is a brand of memory foam mattress, Comfor-pedic, that is manufactured in Canada that does not retain body heat like the Tempurpedic. The gentleman who bagan this company was one of the original partners in Tempur-pedic — concept is the same on design, 20 year warranty on the mattress, cost is less than Tempurpedic and best of all — stands up well in marine living conditions.
Mike and I will be in the BVI sometime around January 21st — had to jump ship on the sailing this year – the family is all about motoring, but we’ll be with his parents on their new boat. (It’ll be tough “roughing it” on a 62′ Offshore Flybridge for a month) if you’re going to be in the area, would love to have you guys “Meet the Parents” —
Welcome back — and enjoy!
Annie and Mike
Thanks for all the info on mattresses, we ended up just buying a queen foam one. Memory foam isint so good for my back, we both like the foam we have, we just need it bigger. I like the idea of having a standard size as well for sheets. We will probably get some kind of pillow top for it. We are getting it on Friday, Sam’s excited, Guin loves bouncing on it :)
It’s good to be home!
Alex, wish I had known you were in Deltaville. Was too busy with the storm to check your site. Got Frosty’s Fantasy launched one day before the storm hit! Will be headed south from Deltaville next week. Hope to see you again. Maybe in the Bahamas? Great to see your new cruising family! Jim W. Also, my NEW e-mail is jimconnie35@yahoo.com
