Key Biscayne

After dropping the hook yesterday in no-name harbor I launched the dinghy (Carly) and Guin, Darrin, Sam, and I rowed to shore. We walked a few miles to a pizza place and had a pie and a few pitchers. With bellies full and smiles we walked to the supermarket and bought fresh veggies for stew. We tend to eat a lot of veggie stew on Splendid. When we got back to the park where Splendid was anchored Guin laughed and chased large iguanas across the grass. After rowing back we all went for a swim with a large dolphin. He kept his distance but after we got out of the water he gave Guin a bit of a dolphin show, she loved it. I was asleep shortly there after and got a good nights sleep : )

I had a little problem with the starter this morning; it just seems a bit rough. I’m going to pull it in Stuart and have it re-built. We left Key Biscayne this morning around 7am, I got a late start.

Unfortunately we have but just a breath of wind from the east. The sun is already strong at 7:30am, and I’m sure it will be a hot one. I’m looking at arriving at Lake worth some time this evening. Tomorrow we’ll chug up the ICW to Port Saint Lucie and anchor up in Stuart.

Cheers all.

Sail far and live slowly.

  1. Good morning to all of you. My wife & I have lived aboard for three years now, but reading this I am so ready to retire I can hardly stand it. We are on the Cumberland River in Nashville Tennessee so we have a clear shot to the Gulf when we start our Grear Loop here in a few years. You all keep us inspired to keep reaching for our goal. The best to all of you & if your ever in Nashville gives us a shout at the Cherokee Marina. My wife is a wonderful cook & we would love to spoil yall for the day. “She also makes a killer Bahama Mama”…..Our girls name…….

The Best to you all Gary

  2. To let you know i love reading your logs and watching your DVDs. My dream is to buy a sailboat here in Guntersville, AL and make my way to the gulf. I am from New Iberia,LA but live here in Alabama now. I’ve been here for about 9 years and its time to move on. Soon as i can get the money up to buy a sailboat good enough to make the trip south i will dock it there find a job and save money so i can trade that one in for one that will get me farther. I am only 33 yrs old so i have nothing but time right..

    Sail far and live slowly………
