Just one more day. Sam and I will be leaving Tuesday morning. We’ve had a garage sale for the last 3 days and have been tying up all our loose ends, we’ll Sam’s loose ends (house, car, etc). I don’t know that I’ve had a loose end for quite some time :) It looks like July 7th 2009 will be Sam’s big date. Speaking of dates I’m cringing at the fact I’m turning 44 on July 14th. Why oh why do the birthdays keep coming. Actually I think I’m doing all right! I’m really happy I’ll be cruising again on my birthday, and I feel like a hell of a lucky guy!
All I need to do on my end is change a racor filter and go to the dock for a pump-out and a water fill. Sam and I need to take a few hours to do some stowing. We are bringing a bunch of stuff from the house to sell on eBay. Mostly vintage dresses. Monies tight so we will be living as lean as possible. I’ll be looking for some work up in the Chesapeake, I’d like to make a few bucks before we take off South in November.
Kerri is going to install the last of the dodger & sides tomorrow. It looks like we will be nice and dry for all the squalls, YEHAAAAA!
Want to hear something totally AWESOME? We haven’t run a generator or the engine for a week. We are totally living off of solar power. It’s such a good feeling having such a soft carbon footprint in the world. Sam’s tickled. If I can just start sailing everywhere and rowing the dinghy we wont be using any fuel at all. We wont have a car anymore and will be riding our bikes from now on. I’d actually like to get a pair of blades, Sam has some. We are also looking for a 2 person Kayak.
The weather looks good. I think we’ll have SW wind until I make the u-turn around the keys. After that I think we’ll be getting some good sailing done.
Peace, Love, and lots more Love.
Sail far and live slowly.

What is the best way to contact you once you are cruising? Are you going off Facebook?

Well, well, well…a early Happy Birthday to you Alex…No wonder, I thought it over that I must of just had a slight mental problem with some of the things I said earlier…you see I’m a Cancer as well..my birthday is July 21st..only I’ll be 56…I was 44 at one time…just remember as you get older it takes you longer to heal when you hurt yourself….so be careful..Great news that you haven’t had to use your engine for power…..I gave up my generator over a year ago..still run my engine a few times to make up for cloudy days cause I have a low power output wind generator..only 100 watts…an old English AmpAir.. but it does feel good to be off the grid so to speak.doesn’t it?…God bless you and your new family…and your voyaging. We’ll keep an eye on your traveling. Good luck from the Ft. Myers anchorage. Dave on the S/V Morning Star.
Wow, I know how you are feeling cuz my Rubaiyat get launched on the 7th. too. Our first night aboard in 2 1/2 yrs.
Still on the grid though:)

I guess I’ll donate my birthday wish to you! I hope ya’ll get off without a hitch and have a safe trip. It really is time to scoot, before that dreaded “Season” bears down on us.
By the way, cross your fingers for me. I’m going to New York, on Friday, to test and interview for “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”.
Peace, love, and stay off the dock!
Congrats A S & G!!! Lauren and I are throwing off the lines September 24th, heading for Mexico. Even thought it is still a few months away we are going crazy waiting so I can only imagine how excited you all are!
PS I can’t seem to play the videos on Project Bluesphere TV yet they work on the home page. Anyone else having issues? Or is it just me?
In reguards to you Alex, I to replayed all your videos and your two DVD’s this week end. They were playing from my Computer and TV when I was doing “Land” chores… Yurg…. I do miss all the old videos and all the info on them. Before I knew it I had painted two whole rooms and alll the trim, thanks for the support via your videos and DVD’s.
Is Darrin going to be able to follow you up coast or just meet up with you at a later time? I can’t wait for DVD 3 that shows you making it across and to points unknown. I look forward to your new updates and you new outlook on family sailing. Please take good care of our new family at sea, and teach them all you’ve showed us and more. We thank you for all you’ve doen and man all the things you’ll be doing. I only wish the day comes soon when you take charters. Be safe and live free.
Thanks, Rodney
Flight booked (finally) and confirmed.
i shall be returning home (if it’s still there) on Friday!
Then I will be sailing up the east coast with ya’z.
