Meet Diana!
Is that an anchor or what???
We named the her “Frankenstein” when we first saw it but have changed her name to Diana, like “Diana Ross and the Supremes”. Sam drove Splendid around the anchorage as I fumbled on the bow with the anchors, shackles, and swivel. When I dropped “Diana”, and we backed down on her I almost ripped the bow off. It doesn’t “Plow” through the mud like a CQR. It just SET!
My windlass seems to labor a bit and as soon as I can upgrade, I will. I know trust for an anchor is developed over time and conditions, but I must say I’m going to sleep just a little better tonight knowing I have the “Mamma-Jamma” of anchors down, especially with these squalls rolling through all day :) It blows like hell sometimes.

by the way .. That is a BIG fukin anchor, especially when seen from a dinghy next to the boat.

Wow that is a monster, I think Frankenstein is a more appropriate name, good luck with it, I am sure you will sleep well with it set.

This is why I am upgrading, a while back I mentioned that I have one of those IDEAL jobbers but was questioned why I was replacing it if it still works. Now you know.

P.S. what conclusion did you come to for the delivery?

I’m going to have my elect motor rebuilt. If you ever get rid of yours let me know. I want to get rid of the rope capstan and have dual gypsies. If yours is laboring you can have the motor rebuilt. My motor is over 30 years old, rebuilt it should last another 30.

Although I’ve never had a problem with my Bruce, and she’s held in more than one hurricane, I like the idea of that shackle slide for popping it loose.

Unfortunately, no. I’m still stuck in Canada, waiting for my bank card to be sent to me. I’ve been stuck here for weeks. Hopefully it will come tomorrow, and I can use it to get myself and my tools a plane ticket. It’s getting a little redundant. Wooooo! I haven’t been this bored in a long time. The funny part is, if I was back home, I might just be doing less than I am right now. I would likely be fishing and picking at projects on Alas.
