Paint

Click to view full size imageI painted 1/3 of the cabin house yesterday. It still needs some detail touch-ups but I’m going to leave the trim and detail to Sam. I’m just no good at that sort of thing. I’m starting to see Splendid and my beautiful home as she will be.

Looking at this picture over coffee this morning really got me thinking. My life has been so Amazing in the last year. I haven’t been cruising, but I’ve been building. I have a new home and family. I haven’t seen Guin for nearly 3 weeks and Sam has been commuting 10 hours round trip to spend a day with me each weekend, it’s been tuff on the heart. Well the girls are back with me until I leave for work on the 15th and it’s hard to explain how beautiful of a morning I’m having. It will be hard to go to work for 3 weeks but it is what it is. At the end of May I get to take my peeps cruising with me and I must say I’m waiting patiently.

I haven’t really been putting my feelings into my logs because I know it’s hard for Sam’s ex to read, but I hope enough time has passed. I want to get back to putting my days into words, pictures, and videos. The last year has been a big transition for me and hard at times, but hell, anything worth while is worth a bit of blood, sweat, and tears right?

I feel like a very fortunate man this morning. Life is good.

Peace everyone.

  1. Your so right Alex…….. my wife & I have been living aboard for three years now. Some mornings sitting on the aft watching the sun being pulled into the sky over the water it is hard to explain how lucky we feel each day. We thank the lord for our SOUTHERN CROSS, she has been, and continues to be a grand craft.

Myself and all the people following along with you are glad you feel that way, because you are very fortunate. And like many readers i’m sure, I feel fortunate myself to be alive and healthy, even stuck in Petoskey Michigan.
    Live for the day!!!

    Sail on everyone.

ps. you may have noticed, I can’t get that damn forum worked up for or about anything!!

    any news about NAMASTE ?

  4. Thank you so much for posting videos of your sailing trips and the restoration project on your current boat. It has been very helpful to me in my boat project, both with inspiration and good advice. When you do get around to painting the non skid on your deck, it would be great if you could take a video of some of it. I have a Catalina 22 that I am completely rebuilding. It has been both a frustrating and wonderful experience for me. Seeing that I had no prior sailing knowledge before this boat, I am very glad that I purchased one that needed to be completely rebuilt. It has taught me so much about structural parts of a sail boat that it has been worth ever bit of the work. I’m still about six months away from sailing but your videos and blogs give me a lot of encouragement. Best of luck with the rest of you project and happy sailing
    Thank you very much

  5. You say in your log, that your going to work, What kind of work, maybe another sailing trip delievering a sailboat?
Or just a job to make money to finish up the painting. Anyway we the followers of your wonderful web site, stands ready to hear from you in any form. We live our second life thru you, so if we ask questions, it’s only because we care. I think I speek for everyone that follows your logs, (We all want to see you sailing, that’s when we as followers get to dream again). Alex, you have reached so many people in just a few years and I think we’re in for a treat when Splendid hits the blue waters and feel the winds in her sails. I live to come log on to your web site and pray for a new log and viedo, yes it’s sad, but everyone can’t live the life your living, so please go live it and share the memeries that you make.

Thank you, and have a drink on me…..

I totally agree, I check your website 2 or 3 times a day, even if you just say that “I had rice and fish for lunch” it is such a thrill for us land lubbers who get to sail a little sometimes.
    All the best.

    Hey Alex.

I’m beginning to see the end of my IKE repairs. Turtle got hit pretty hard as I’ve said before so since she was here at the yard I rebuilt her tired old diesel. All the cosmetics you are doing are very familiar to me. Fairing and painting and making stuff work better. Soon brother, soon I’ll be out there too. Well the bill collecters are calling so its back to the rock pile for a while longer……..m
