Freezing!!!

I woke up to 56 degrees today, burrrrr.

I’ve been crazy working the last weeks. The aft cabin is stripped clean and ready for paint, as is the aft deck. I’m putting in a few new cleats today and starting to put down some paint in the cabin. I found a hairline crack under one of the chain plate bases. After a bit of grinding I found someone putty bedding behind the base. I didn’t like it so I ground it all out and glassed it all up with matte. It’s over engineered, and I’m much happier with it.

I’m going out on the hook on the 2nd and decided it was a good time to clean, and re-galvanize the anchor. I used the galvanizing in the can, hope it sticks.

I’m really happy with the Glidden floor & porch paint tests. I found the spec sheet on the paint at glidden.com, it even says it’s for boat decks. If you’re interested check it out here:

At 17 bucks a gallon it sure is a good cost effective way of cleaning up your boat. They also sell a non-skid additive powder (shark grip) for about $5.00.

Why is it I always need to rebuild a boat before I go cruising? It’s funny, I couldn’t imagine just having the money to buy a boat and have people work on it for me. It would take so much away from the experience of cruising. I think the process of restoring is a boat is like a “right of passage”. I’ll feel like I deserve it this way.

Cheers everyone.

Peace, love, and coconuts.
