Land and Sea

What a mess!

Where oh where do I put all this crap?

I’m boxing stuff for good will. Splendid came with so much stuff. I have 3 pasta strainers, 1000 towels, and stuff like that. The problem is I don’t have room for all my tools so I’m on a throwing out/ giving away rampage.

My biggest problem with Splendid is the superstructure to deck joint. The superstructure is wood (teak) and I have some leeks from the joint. I need to pull off the trim and glass the whole thing over and repaint the boat. The wood superstructure is beautiful, but just too much maintenance. I’m holding off till late in the year when I can hire a crew of 3 guys in Colombia or Trinidad. I’ll bring all the supplies. Until then I’m going to focus on all the other projects. At the moment organizing is the biggest problem. Splendid’s so big I can never find what I’m looking for.

It is awesome to have this fast WIFI!!!

I just won a Dewalt belt sander and a Milwaukee sawsall on ebay. My tool chest is getting nice and fat. I ordered a cheap tap and die set but it really looks useless. I’m kicking myself because I made a deal with myself “No more cheap tools”! I’m still looking for specialty tools like a torque wrench, drill press, bench grinder and a fat vice. When I leave here I will have a proficient shop and hopefully will be able to tackle any problems that arise. When I go sailing this time I want to get further off the beaten path, “no more cruising guides”! I want to see the east coast of South America and possibly voyage up the Amazon. When I return to the South Pacific I want to go to Kiribati and some of the more secluded places In Micronesia. All this means being self sufficient.

Anyway, I’m done with my morning coffee. It’s time to get to work.

Peace, Love, and Splendid!!!
