Looking back at my stress over the past few months seems silly now. My destiny was to buy Splendid and no other boat. She presented herself as soon as I got back just as she was supposed to. I've been chatting with her previous owner and she feels the same way I did when I sold Namaste. It's a heart breaking experience selling a boat that you love and I believe she is happy to see her go to me. She wants to see Splendid sailing and not chained to a dock like a dog. I don't really believe that any of us really own a sail boat anyway, we just spend time with them. A good ship with a sole will outlive all of us and good ships always pass to good captains. They travel through time maintained buy one thing, and one thing only, “Love”. All this is happening for a reason and I'm really enjoying the ride.
I'm so excited I cant see straight. I'm still a bit stunned but happy as a clam. I'm going to outfit Splendid for a life at sea this time, not just 5 years. I will become more self sufficient! I'll be bringing a sailright sewing machine so I can make my own sails & canvis, an arc welder, and large assortment of tools. I'll be scouring ebay looking for tools & hardware. The little money I have left will go fast and I'm going to make every dollar count and do everything myself. I'll be set up to charter comfortably and share my life with more people who are interested in learning to live at sea.
I'm flying to Florida on Wednesday to go home! I have a lot of work to do on my beautiful new boat. The one picture was taken before Splendid was fitted with a new aluminum rig four years ago. Her masts, booms, and rigging are almost new. I have a bunch of glass and wood repairs, buy it's all fixable. I'm going to keep her simple, lean, and seaworthy. I'll also be shopping fore a wind vane this time “less is more!
Anyway time to sleep and wake up a day closer to my new home.
Peace, Love, and Coconuts.
