I have 2 laugh!

So close yet so far!

The last miles on this leg are turning out to be slow, in fact, I’m going .05 of a knot backwards.

I have some sun this morning which is nice to drink my tea by, but no wind, and about a half knot current against me. I only have 29.5 miles to the northern shore of the island (Vavau), then about another 15 to navigate through some islands to get to Neiafu, which is where I’m going. I was hoping to at least make the North end of the Island today so I could hunt around for a spot to drop the hook and wait for wind but maybe not. I’d love to burn up diesel like some of the rich yachties, but I just cant afford to do it at $12 a gallon.

If the sun stays for a while I’m going to drag all the cushions and stuff on to the deck for a dry. It’s been really miserable in the cabin with all the hatches closed and mold growing on my nose.

It was a peaceful night last night but I didn’t manage much sleep. Either the perimeter alarm went off from moist air in the vicinity, or my autopilot alarm went off because there was not enough wind to keep Namaste on course. I should have turned everything off and went to bed but I really wanted to make the island today.

I have a few more things to add to my list of damage. My HDV camera is on the blink again, and I lost a laptop this morning, it just will not power up. However my spirits are better with the sun.

Peace, Love, and “Come on baby give daddy some wind”!
