Yesterday was a fine day…, rainy, but not so bad.
I spent most of the day at my club, that’s right, my club. I’m not really the yacht club kind of guy, and as W.C. Fields said “I never wanted to be a member of a club that would have me”. Well $20.00 got me a membership to NYC (Niue Yacht Club) and I have a laminated membership card to prove it, How do you like them apples
If your a member you get free internet, although it didn’t work very well yesterday. I was on for 5 hours and it was so slow I couldn’t download but half of my mail since I left Bora Bora.
They did have a nice BBQ last night with grilled sausages, Mahi Mahi, salad, and bread. It was nice to have a good meal with all my new friends.
I got a chance to talk to Bryan on “Storm Along” and he is selling me the new Auto Pilot control head for $250.00. He is coming by this morning to help me install it. It’s a big financial hit and I’d rather wait to receive my part from RayMarine, but I really need to make time and make my way west. Waiting 2 weeks for a package isn’t really an option for me at this time.
I met another single hander , Hanz on “Old Manatee”. I think we are going to rent a couple of bikes today and check out the island. He also likes to take photographs. However I will not be able to upload any from here.
My friends on Zazoo came in last night from Palmerston. They had a rough trip as well and shredded their jib and broke a few things. They had heard through the coconut telegraph that I had problems on the crossing.
As soon as the weather settles I’ll be on my way.
Cheers everyone.
