I smile every time I see this picture or look outside, I still can’t believe I’m in Bora Bora.

I was playing with my friends kids (Luke, Josh) yesterday and splashing them with the paddles from my inflatable and broke both my paddles. I picked up my inflatable in Colombia a few years back for $100 and it’s been great, for a deflatable. On the next boat I want a real sailing dinghy with wooden oars. I had to cut part of my cutting board off for material but the fix really worked, she rows great again, I just need to test the splashability of the oars later with the kids.

Man it’s been blowing hard here. It’s a steady 10 knots yet every 45-60 seconds a big gust of 30 or more rolls through the anchorage like clockwork. The boats are dancing all over the moorings and it’s been hard to sleep. I looked at the area pressure and we are in a squeeze zone. It looks like I’ll be off Sunday, or Monday.

I spoke to an Australian fisherman from Brisbane who is here on his honeymoon. We had a beer at Bloody Marys. He said he couldn’t believe the weather this year “La Ninya is here hard”!. Just a few weeks ago a guy went hard aground just outside of Brisbane trying to sail for the islands; he got caught in over 100kt winds and blown far up the reef. He can’t get his boat off.

Many people thought I was reading the Pacific Streamline wrong the other day and that a 95 knot indicator was impossible. I’m posting the streamline, you tell me what you see between Papette and Pago Pago?

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Cheers everyone.

Alex
