Sea Sick!

I can’t remember the last time I was really sea sick. I know I felt bad rounding Punta Mala, but I think the last time I was sick was running from Cartagena to the San Blas.

I didn’t get sick over the last 36 hours but if I had a gun I would have shot myself, I felt really, REALLY, horrible. All I could do is lie down and let Namaste fend for herself.

I got up on a beautiful Saturday morning yesterday, hauled up the anchor and leisurely sailed over to Moorea. I sailed into Cook?s bay to see it then took off for wherever west towards New Cal.

A cold front swept through just as I left Moorea to my stern. By the time the sun set I had 12′ breaking confused seas and I was down for the count. I saw another boat on the horizon and hailed them. It was my friend Ben and his family on ‘Zazoo’. We checked in with each other a few times but I couldn’t speak much.

I looked at the GPS and formulated a plan, ‘Raiatea‘! Raiatea is just a few miles east of Bora Bora ?I could make it by tomorrow night? I thought. After studying the island I changed course for a pass on the North-Eastern side. I arrived at the pass dehydrated, wet, sunburned and starving at around 15:00 today, things can really go to ‘hell and a hand basket’ quickly sometimes.

I motored around to the other side of the island and dropped the hook. Just as I was trying to figure out what to eat my friends from ‘Cosmos’ showed up with BBQ chicken and desert ‘you must be famished’. I almost shed a tear. It’s better to have a million friends then a million dollars any day of the week?!

My running lights went out again, I thought I fixed them in Hiva Oa but I’ll have to dive into the project again tomorrow. I’ll leave in a few days. I can see Bora Bora on the horizon, Kind of cool.

I need to get some sleep.

Cheers everyone.

Peace, Love and Smooth seas!
