I know you’ve had to deal with some bitching lately but it’s coming to an end.
When I was in Hiva Oa in the Marquesas I had a “protection” Tiki carved into Namaste’s compression post. I know it’s not a good name for a Marquesan Tiki but I call him Charlie. Charlie looks out after Namaste and keeps the evil spirits away from her. I on the other hand don’t have a Tiki carved in me. The sculptor who carved Charlie told me to beware of evil spirits in the islands “They are real”!
Well my evil spirit has let go and my “Brain Cloud” is lifting. I’ve made a real plan and I can sea my path once again. I’m off on a very long journey and will be at sea for 4-6 weeks.
The buyer for Namaste and I came to an agreement on the price but I need to deliver her to Brisbane Australia which is over 3000 miles from here. I feel really good about this. It is really important for Namaste to go to a good home and I’m glad she will not be sitting at some dock somewhere getting old. I’m going to put up a page for her and hopefully the new owner will update logs and photos from time to time as he works on her and travels. It’s just time for me to move up and do a little more with my life, my mind has become stagnant and it’s just time to move on. As far as project BlueSphere goes I’m sure it will grow with this change and all the people who want to see me continue west on Namaste will eventually understand my decisions and agree with me. The saddest thing about this is my friend Machi was going to come sailing with me in September. I was really looking forward to spending time with her in the islands. Hopefully she will conceder joining me later on the other boat. She has never been sailing but I don’t think a 3000 mile passage is a good way to introduce her to it.
I’ve been working close with my friend Chuck back in Florida. There are some real deals on boats out there. And although I’m not going to get something as big as Creola I’m going to get something in “Sail Away” condition and I have my eye on a few solid possibilities. They don’t have all the cool gear Namaste has, but I don’t mind going back to the basics. I’m going to want to take offshore delivery which means I will need to leave the country ASAP to avoid tax on the sale. I have my eye on a boat in San Diego which means I’ll be off south of the boarder to Mexico, and another in Boston which would mean I’d be off for the Azores and the Med. If I decide to stay in the States and find a boat close to Florida my buddy has a dock where I can stay and work on the boat for free. I’m happy not to be getting Creola I think the needed work would eventually put a real tax on my freedom and sole.
Anyway, as soon as my engine parts get here I’m off to Australia. I’m going to visit the Australian embassy tomorrow and secure my entrance papers. I’m going to try and do the crossing in one leg but if I need to I can stop in the Cooks, Tonga, or New Caledonia for a rest.
It’s kind of appropriate that I’m posting the last video of my Pacific crossing today. At the end of the video I say “I want to do this for a long time” and it’s true, I’m a lifer.
