I think you can still watch the original “intro” video on the website, I think it’s available in the video player. I’ve been thinking back to the beginning of Project BlueSphere and when I shot that video. Project BlueSphere wasn’t so much about a guy sailing around the world; as it was to be a portal to see it and get to know people from different cultures.
I don’t know what it is that’s keeping me up at night but I really want to pull this off. I would like to combine charters with helping people. I want us to know again what it is to help each other. It’s the way of “cruisers” and a way of life I have become accustomed to.
I’d like to pair up American families with families from different cultures. I think kids are the key, and children who are sick will benefit the most from the experience. My idea is to sell charters (inexpensive) to America families, and invite a family who couldn’t ever afford one (for free), or one that is in need. I think it would be an experience that would be really amazing to all parties. When most people travel they never get to know the people from the places that they visit. They stay in an expensive hotel, eat in touristy restaurants, and go home saying the “Know” the place they visited. I on the other hand go out of my way to spend time, learn the language and get to know the people. The “people” to me are far more interesting then the geographics of a new country.
And by the way I’m not looking for any kind of non prophet funding. A few people suggested that I approach a few funds and that is not what this is about. This is something I want to do on my own.
At this point I would have to say more people than not want to see me get into the larger boat. I’ve had offers to help me with the gap financing between Namaste and the new boat, and one person that is willing to put in a really low-ball offer to see if it flies. I’ve been offered standby tickets to go see the boat, and people who will prepay for charters. A number of people have offered to come and help me work on the boat as well. This is what “good karma” is all about! I can’t tell you how touched I am that people have been helping me along the way. I feel my path, no matter which way I go is truly blessed. I may also have a job at a nearby shipyard, time will tell.
The whole thing boils down to me selling my beloved Namaste. A number of people have told me that cruising boats are fetching top dollar in
If I do go back to look at the boat in
Anyway, lots of thoughts. I’m still knocking out projects and planning on sailing west before the 10th. That’s the date I’ve stuck in my head to make a decision.
