Hiking!

I went to a “spear throwing” contest a few days ago and wanted to post a picture. These guys were throwing spears at a coconut perched atop a 50 foot pole. I’m amazed how many were able to hit it. I’d hate to be running through the jungle trying to evade a spear attack, OUTCH!!! The other picture is of the boat next to me with Moorea in the background. The sunset was really amazing.

My buddy Steve has been in Moorea for a few days. I’m really excited about sailing into Cook’s bay once I leave Tahiti in a few weeks; he says it is really beautiful.

I can’t really figure out if I want to head NW or SW once I leave Tahiti. Samoa is to the NW, and the Cook’s to the SW. I think I’m going to trim the sails for the best ride and see which way to go, following the breeze seems like a good idea. I feel like it’s time to get moving again but I’ve been a bit under the weather and not very motivated to finish projects. I had a really bad infection under my finger nail and I’m just finishing a round of antibiotics.

I want to go for a hike in the mountains for a few days. I will bring my backpack and tent. I’m planning to camp by a water fall that takes many hours to hike to. I haven’t been off the boat for the night in a while. It would be cool to wake up and shower under a Tahitian waterfall. It would also be a good excuse to take some great video.

Cheers everyone.
