Well, it’s like this.
I left the Ahi atoll and had 35 knots of sustained winds for the first half of my trip. The seas were large and pooped my cockpit twice. I was cursing the sea and came to the conclusion that it wouldn’t get much worse. As soon as I said that the wind shifted to a direct head wind. Under full power I was making .5 of a knot at times and in a constant squall.
In my last 40 miles I decided “I want out of the cruising thing”. Every wave crashed over the bow and drenched my bed through my leaky hatch; I took on a lot of water and took quite a beating. In fact I think it’s my worst beating to date only comparable to when I crossed the
During the trip my entire electric system went down. I’m worried I need new batteries. Mine are just a year old and I don’t know why they would fail. I’ve had a bit of bad luck lately. My HDV camera failed, my computer got infected, my electronic system went down, my SSB radio is on the fritz, my sat phone, and computer monitor. Arrrrgggg, why do I have to keep up with all of this tech crap!!!
As soon as I was in the anchorage I took it all back and decided I still want to sail, what’s up with that?
I just came back from shore after drinking Bud light (2 for 1) and eating an awesome burger. I went shopping, and the supermarket is more impressive then anything I can remember in the states. I bought some cheese, bread, fruit and veggies, I’m in heaven. I haven slept for four days and I’m a bit out of it.
