Land and Sea

Hove-To

The wind really freshened (20-25) yesterday and I spent the whole day trying to slow Namaste down. I took down the main and only flew the smallest scrap of jib. Then I dragged a bucket in the water and I was still doing 3.5 Kts. 20 miles off of Ahi I decided to hive-to. It’s really the first time I’ve done it and I’m quite happy with the results. I’m still on course to my waypoint; however I’m usually doing under a knot, and kind of backwards.

The sea conditions are more bearable with this angle on the seas and I managed a few hours of sleep. I was going to go direct to Tahiti but decided to pull into Ahi and wait for the wind to cool off; I don’t need this for 3 more days.

I’m going to enter the atoll at slack lo-water which is around noon, I’ll be hove-to for the next 5 hours or so.

I can’t wait to take a nice swim and get some rest. My back is really killing me. I often have back pain but try to keep it out of my mind. I had a fusion (L5 S1) years ago and I haven’t been taking care of it. I need to try and do something about my mattress in Tahiti.

Pace, Love, and comfy sleep.
