Land and Sea

It’s a small world after all!

A gypsy soul!

I’m going through a transition in my life.

Something happened to me on the crossing from Panama…, the world got smaller. When I study charts now it’s “700 miles here, 1500 miles there, no big deal”. The world is my oyster, I love this life, and it is truly special! I often think of settling down one day, but will it be possible? I know I see myself in a bigger boat with more comfort and speed, but dirt? When it comes to the sea I might be a “lifer”, and that’s cool. I’m searching for the “perfect place”, but perhaps there are too many.

My passage from Panama was hard at times but I’m ready to go to sea again, she’s calling me. I’ll do a better job of stowing and provisioning this time. I’m going to cook a bunch of pasta salad and finger foods to eat under way. I’ll also make a big thermos of coffee which should last 2 or 3 mornings. If I go directly to Tahiti I’m looking at 7-9 days underway, if I stop in the Tuamotos around 5 days.

In Tahiti I want to take off the roller furling and inspect the forestay before proceeding west. The cracked turnbuckles really freaked me out; I guess I’m hard on my rig.

I need video of Namaste sailing for my next DVD. I spoke to Aki and the current plan is to leave together on Wednesday or Thursday morning. I’ll give him my video camera and we will sail to Ua Poe for a night or just long enough for him to return my camera. He will spend the day filming Namaste underway. He’s really pushing for me to visit one atoll (Ahi) in the Tuamotos. If I stop I hope I don’t get stuck there!

What will tomorrow bring?

Peace, Love, and freedom baby!
