Yesterday was the pits.
As soon as I sent out my log the squalls came. They looked like angry fists in the sky approaching from the stern. They would shout at Namaste “What are you doing here”, “Get out of my way little boat”, “you have no right to be here”! Namaste would reply by saying “I’m sorry, I don’t speak SQUAL!, lets go sailing, lets go sailing…,” and she just kept on trucking through the 24-32 knot wind all day.
I was too exhausted to keep up the sail changes and decided to keep the main reefed to number three and control the power with the jib, this system has been working well and I’ve been screaming down wind between 5.5 to almost 7 knots.
The sea has built to a confused 10 + feet which is mostly coming from the port stern quarter. It is quite uncomfortable but I want to hold my course.
I started the cipro yesterday and I had a really bad reaction to it. I knew it would make me jittery as it has in the past but it seemed worse this time. I was having problems focusing and having a hard time holding it together. I swore I wouldn’t take any more but in the middle of the night my cough came back badly and I took another 500mg’s.
The deck is littered with flying fish. The sun is finally out, and I’m hoping the seas lay down a bit today. The wind has subsided to a pleasant and steady q13kts, and I’m making a respectable 5.3.
During the night I added a second floor to my solar cabin along with two German Shepards and an old beat up Ford 150 pick up. I spent a lot of time there last night, it’s starting to feel like my second home.
