Land and Sea

A gift.

I couldn’t ask for a nicer day.

The sun has dried the decks and the sky has blown through my hair all day at 11 knots. I’m heading a bit more west then I’d like (255) on a southern breeze, but that is ultimately where I’m headed. I deflated my inflatable today. I wanted the extra deck space to fly my Yankee. Today Namaste proudly sails as a cutter, as she should!

With the absence of my deflatable (leaking inflatable) I’m able to open my forward hatch which makes life below bearable. I cleaned up for an hour or so but quickly lost interest and decided to read again. I made a nice pot of stew for lunch and dinner.

If this weather holds through the night I hope to sleep for many hours, what a treat!

Tomorrow night I plan on sailing my beautiful yacht across the equator, oh how I’ve dreamed of this. I wish I could explain in words how alive I feel. There is nothing out her but sea and sky, it makes life quite simple. It’s hard not to reflect on my past. Many questions float through my head. “Am I a good man”? “Why am I alone?” “What lay in my future”? It’s nice not to be distracted by the mundane routine of every day life. I believe this time in the Pacific will have a distinctive influence on my future, in a good way.

Anyway I’m off. The jib just started luffing and needs a trim.

Peace everyone.
