I have no wind, zero, nada, nothing, zip!!!!
Since early this morning (04:30) I’ve made a whopping 25 miles.
“Please dear lord help me gut over the equator”.
I’m drifting again (south) at a knot.
I put a few patches on the dinghy today and read a little. I listened to the Pacific Panama net today, and no good news on wind. People are even skunked leaving the Galapagos. I talked (SSB) to a few boats down at 5 degrees south having a ball in the trades, “15 – 20” from behind, I can’t wait to be there. Once I’m in the trades I should put at least 120 miles a day behind me to the Marquesas. I need to make as much southing as possible. The problem is the scraps of wind I do get are from the south east, better then the south west I suppose. All in all, I guess it’s better then being poked in the eye with a sharp stick!
I guess I’ll be squiding again tonight. I’m not even going fast enough to troll a lure, it ends up in front of me!.
Please remember I can’t reply to all my instant messages (sat phone costs), that being said, I love all of the instant messages, they are my only company. I killed the fly!
My buddy Rick that I met on a charter this last season just bought a Bristol Channel Cutter, “way to go bro, you’ll never regret it”, what fantastic little boats they are. “ I cant wait to see you out here, when are you leaving”?
Also thanks to Ken Sr. for reminding me not to burn fuel, I burned 5 gallons yesterday, what was I thinking? And I do wear my harness, just in bad weather, I can’t wear it all the time I’d rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick. And some folks didn’t like the idea of me swimming off shore, but if you were down here in this heat with no wind and glassy seas I think you would go swimming too…, “here sharky sharky”!
I’m so bored!
I need to finish an article for L&A but I just can’t motivate myself.
Is it time to hit some of my 192 tots of rum?
IIIIIII NNNNNEEEEDDDDDD WWWWWIIINNNNNDDDDDDD!!!! That is secret code for “I NEED WIND”!
I may motor for a few hours as I need to charge the batteries anyway.
Know any good jokes?
Did I mention the fact I need some wind?
Hay, I’m part American Indian, I’m off to do a rain dance, wind comes with rain right? You think I’m kidding?
Peace, Love, and WIND!!!!!
Alex
