For those of you who are interested my route is as follows:
My first waypoint is exiting the
07 30 N, 070 30W
After that I will stay well offshore (150+ miles) to:
03 00S, 085 00 W
This will take me around a week, and then I make my turn west. I’m going so far south to cross the ITCZ (Doldrums) at its narrowest point. Once I make the turn I will head to:
03 00S, 100 00W
I’m going to this waypoint to avoid unpleasant sea conditions between 90W and 95W and 3S and 8S. Many boats report unpleasant conditions in this area. After that I’ll take a great circle route to
09 45S, 138 45W
I hope I still like sailing after I reach the Marquesas (4092 miles)!
I’m going a little early in the season. Pacific cyclone season is technically still on through March. I want to start the season early in order to maximize my time in the south Pacific before the onset of cyclone season again in November.
In November I need to make the decision to go south to
I’m still waiting for this fluky weather to pass, it actually rained in dry season, global warming is a strange thing eah?
I have my eye on tomorrow. Once again if I disappear don’t call the coast guard or anything I’m sure it’s my Sat Phone. I do have an EPIRB onboard and if I really need it I light it up and call for help.
Peace, Love, and many sea miles under the keel!
Alex
