Today I received a $50.00 donation and was asked to go buy beer, and beer I bought. I got 2 cases of Guinness and 3 gallons of rum. I also got a bottle of cheap champagne to pop as I cross the equator. I was going to leave dry but have decided against it. As captain I plan on allowing myself a tot each day. A “tot” according to the British Royal Navy is 1/8 of a pint of rum and a sailor?s daily allowance. Who is good with math? How many tots in 3 gallons? I’m also going to allow myself a cold Guinness in the mid day sun. Sounds like an okay plan doesn’t it?
I may be cash poor; however I’m a rich man when it comes to provisions. All in all (Fuel, food, fishing supplies, pharmacy stuff, and booze), I’ve spent around a grand in the last week. Namaste is so fat I think my trip to the Marquesas will take closer to 3 months then 40 days.
My email is worked out, Namaste is fueled and provisioned, and I’m feeling pretty good about the whole thing. Tomorrow I need to change the oil and buy some oil filters to go with the 5 gallons of motor oil I bought today. The following day is Thursday and I need to clean up and finish stowing everything; however on Friday I will get my Zarpe (exit papers) and leave on Saturday. I’m so tired. This process has really drained me emotionally and physically. I have been running around from early morning to late in the evening every day. I may go to Contadora for a few days to clean the bottom and finish an article for Latitudes & Attitudes. I’ve been so busy the past few months I haven’t had time to write. I’d also like a day to decompress and prepare mentally for the solitude the lay ahead.
I will be filming during my crossing and my first order of business in the Marquesas is to finish the DVD. I will also be doing a lot of blog posting. The chart viewer should allow you to see my daily progress as I cross the Pacific.
Cheers everyone.
Peace, Love, and have a tot for me!
Alex
