I tell you the “loosing the income” thing really paid off and I’m making the best of it. I stopped drinking to save money and what a difference. I’m not a drunk, but quitting drinking is just what I needed to prepare for this trip mentally and physically. My weakening income has also forced me to eat healthier, no more pizza and burgers.
I’m starting the provisioning process. I’m shopping at the local markets and buying fruit and vegetables really cheap. I’m posting a picture of my food dryer. I’ve been experimenting with it and I’m finding that I like dried apples, bananas and mushrooms the best. It takes about three days to dry a load of food in the sun. Once I leave I’ll be drying fish as I cross the Pacific.
I’m planning on leaving in about a week. I have a call in to a Galapagos yacht agent and I think I can get in for around $250.00. I think the crossing (10days) and the content I shoot will be a nice addition to the ending of the DVD and just what I’m looking for.
This is my new ABI windlass, isn’t it a work of art? Everyone has been stopping by to admire it. I’m working on a mounting design today. I’ll be making the prototype out of cardboard and bringing the design to the welder and the final base will be made of quarter inch stainless plate.
I don’t know what is going on with my sat phone (Instant messages). I’ll need to address this before I leave otherwise I will not have any email at sea. Once again, if you have sent instant messages or emails to my sat phone, I have not received them. Please contact me again through the email portal on the website (Not instant message).
Cheers everyone, I hope you’re having a fantastic weekend.
