Land and Sea

Final weeks in Panama!!!

My gasket kit arrived from Volvo yesterday. I’m planning on taking off the head on Monday I hope the job goes smoothly. The pessimist in me always arises when I plan a big job. I hope I don’t snap a head bolt or something. Someone suggested that I can make a ring compressor out of soda can material and hose clamps; I’m going to give it a shot.

I may have a 2 week charter from Panama to the Galapagos. If that happens I’ll certainly be sailing for the Marquesas, SWEEEEETTTT!

My food dryer is packed and drying apples, pears, bananas, tomatoes, mushrooms and cucumbers. A few people have stopped by on the way to their boats and asked what it is.  It’s turning out to be quite the conversation piece, I love it. I wish I knew how to do this years ago! Dried food is so much better then canned.

Cass had a huge dinner party last night. She and her mom made a fantastic gumbo. More then twenty people showed up, it was quite the hit. We all talked about the South Pacific, looked at an atlas and dreamed as we looked at pictures of the beautiful atolls that populate the Southern Pacific ocean. What an amazing place.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and the opportunity to get out sailing.

Peace, Love, and Coconuts.
