ARGGGG!!!

Before I left on my trip all the old, salty, single-handers would always give me their two cents. “No mooring, and no docks, that’s where the damage happens, and if you don’t have a good anchorage in bad weater, GO TO SEA BOY!!!”

All my collisions (with the exception of the whale) have happened at a dock or a mooring. Docks and moorings give us a false sense of security. In the Bahamas I tore my 4hp outboard in half at the dock, in an extreame currant. In Colombia I got bashed up at the dock. Last week in Contadora I picked up a mooring, two hours later I tapped my friends boat because the extreme tide caused Namaste to pick the mooring up off the bottom. That’s even after I dove on the mooring and checked it out, I didn’t think about the extreme tide versus the length of mooring line. Last night at 4AM we tapped another boat on another mooring. Today Cassandra and I went to the dock for water. I usually jerry can it but I was feeling lazy and just wanted to put the hose in the boat. I was being extra careful holding Namaste off of the dock but didn’t have the strength to hold it off in the current especially with a large super-tanker wake.  Namaste hit the dock and tore a two foot chunk of toe rail off the starboard side of the boat. That’s it, No more docks and moorings.

Cassandra’s best friend is flying in for a few days, I’m sure we will do some drinking and check out some local festivities.

Hope everyone is having a beautiful Sunday.

Peace, Love, and stay on the hook!
