David and I had a pretty spectacular week when it comes to weather. The sun wasn’t too hot, nor did it rain much with the exception with last night. When we pulled into Contadora it started raining buckets. David and I caught about 60 gallons of fresh water for the tank.
Anchoring was a bit of a nightmare. I set the hook off the beach, and then decided it was to close to the rocks. I pulled in the anchor, and reset it about 20 yards away. Then a plane landed on the strip and complained that the mast was interfering with the planes landing path, I pulled up the anchor again. There were about 15 empty moorings so I grabbed one. The wind kicked up and an anchored sailboat got kind of close so I moved to another mooring. At around 21:00 a fishing boat came and kicked me off of the mooring and I went far out in the current and dropped the hook, ARRRGGGG! I HAVE NO WINDLESS!!! But my arms are getting bigger!
David brought me copies of the Latitudes & Attitudes TV show. Even though I’ve been sending them video for over a year, this was the first chance I got to see it. What a great show, if you get the “Water Channel” I highly recommend you check it out, I’m sure you could get more info on show times at www.seafaring.com.
Anyway I’m back in Espirito Santo. It’s raining pretty hard, and it’s shaping up to be a peaceful night. I had some Trigger fish left over from the other night and it’s on the stove simmering in onions, garlic, and curry. I just poured a deep glass of Cabernet, Yummy!
I’ll be posting more logs now that I’m on my own again. I asked David to write about his experience on Namaste over the past week, he said he’ll email it to me from home. I’ll post it as a log next week.
I have a bunch of boat projects to do before I have another visitor in 2 weeks. I need to change the oil, fix the autopilot, and work on the starter. When I was in Contadora the motor didn’t want to start, but after tapping the starter with a screwdriver, it started, I need to look into that. I’m also planning on shooting a bunch of video.
Peace, Love, and Coconuts everyone.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Alex.
