My friends boat

I just found out my friend Aki on “Liberty” almost lost his boat. That big squall I went through a week or so ago with Buddy strengthened by the time it hit Panama (50 Kts). Aki was off the boat, and when he returned his Catalina 42 was on the rocks and holed. I local in a power boat was pulling it off the rocks after about 30 minutes of beating.

The water damage inside isn’t so bad, but there is a crack where the keel joins the hull, and a good size hole. He’s hauled out now and believes it will be back in the water in a few weeks.

What rotten luck.

I’m really excited my friend David is showing up today. I caught my first two lobsters in the Pacific this morning; I’m seeing it as a good sign for our trip.
