Lets go sailing!

As most of you know my trip across the Pacific was abruptly cut short by a serious engine failure.

My old motor is pretty worn out. Sea water is in the oil, and diesel in the exhaust water. One cylinder runs extremely hot (taking the entire load), and water is not pumping through the cooling system well. I could rebuild her at a large expense of money and time, but in the end, I’ll still have a 30 year old, sea-water cooled diesel with many miles ahead of me. Re-powering is the answer. I got a bid to re-power Namaste here in Panama from a reputable company at $7,500.00, but how to swing it?

The wheels in my head have really been turning trying to figure out a way to make it happen. I’ve watched my own DVD a few times and have re-realized that it’s not the destinations, but the voyage that’s important to me, and being stuck here without a motor is part of my voyage. Never the less, I want to get moving for myself, and to keep the website interesting and exciting. When I first conceived projectbluesphere.com, when it was still to be an “on-line” TV show, I was going to have the subscribers actually come cruising with me to truly make Project BlueSphere an interactive experience.

So many people have inquired about chartering Namaste, and so few have found the time. The charters that I’ve done have been wildly successful. You can read about their experiences onboard Namaste in the forums section of projectbluesphere.com.

I want to sell 5, week long sailing adventures this week for $1,500.00 each. You’ll get 7 days onboard Namaste sailing, exploring, snorkeling, or whatever comes. If I can sell the 5 packages this week I’ll re-power Namaste (New Motor) at once, and be under way in a few weeks. Your week charter is redeemable whenever, and wherever you want during my circumnavigation. If you’d like to take your charter this summer, I’d suggest booking your week and cruising the Las Pearlas Islands with me. It’s a stunningly beautiful tropical paradise where they just shot survivor. Or you could choose the Galapagos Islands, French Polynesia, New Zealand, Africa, you name it. For $1,500.00 you’ll have a week of adventure in the bank, kind of like having “Charlie’s golden ticket” in your hip pocket. You’ll also be in my next DVD and a permanent member of the Project BlueSphere experience. It also might be a nice gift for someone just about to enter, or graduating from college. I bummed around Paris the summer before my first year of college, I’ll never forget it.

If you’re really up for an adventure we could talk about a charter (one person) from Panama to the Marquesas, via the Galapagos. This would roughly be a 2 month commitment and cover over 4000 miles of ocean. This is the “Big Daddy” of ocean crossings. I had wanted to save the experience for myself, but perhaps that’s a bit selfish. The door is now open, if you really want to become a sailor, this is your chance. I’ll be blowing my shot at a membership to the “Joshua Slokum” Society by not solo-circumnavigating, but what the hell. I wouldn’t want to be a member of any society that would have me anyway.
